Newsflash: Matt Polly to Attend Bruce Lee Conference
In breaking news, we are delighted to announce that Bruce Lee's most thorough and authoritative biographer, Matthew Polly, will join us for the fourth annual Martial Arts Studies conference, Bruce Lee's Cultural Legacies (11-12 July 2018).
Polly is the national bestselling author of American Shaolin and Tapped Out. A Princeton graduate and Rhodes Scholar, his writing has appeared in The Washington Post, Esquire, Slate, Playboy, and The Nation. He is a fellow at Yale University.
Along with our other keynotes, Professor Meaghan Morris and Professor Siu Leung Li, Polly will attend the international two-day conference.
After seven years of research, Polly's meticulously detailed, expansive and often thrilling biography, Bruce Lee: A Life, was published globally today, on June 5, 2018. (I was lucky enough to receive an advance copy and I can confirm it is THE biography of Bruce Lee.)
The response to the book has been overwhelmingly positive. It was selected for The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, and Publisher's Weekly's 'Best Summer Books' lists, and reviews have been glowing:
'The first noteworthy treatment of its subject – and a definitive one at that... Fascinating narrative threads proliferate' — The New York Times
'The biggest book I'm suggesting you bring to the beach is Bruce Lee: A Life. It's the first authoritative biography of the martial arts teacher and movie star' – The Los Angeles Times
'This thorough, well-source biography from Polly is an engrossing examination of the life of the martial arts movie star and his shocking early death... The definitive biography' – Publisher's Weekly
If you would like the chance to meet the author and pick up an autographed copy of this new and authoritative biography of Bruce Lee, there is still time to register for the conference.
Media should contact the conference organisers in advance.
