Conference (and) Videos

Happy New Year!

As we hurtle through the month of January, I wanted to let you know a couple of things:

1. California Conference (May 23-24, Chapman University, California)

We will be sending out key information about this conference really soon. However, for now, please be aware that we are going to secure high quality conference accommodation on campus. This will be cheaper and better located than private accommodation elsewhere. We will confirm information soon.

2. Bruce Lee Conference Videos

I have now received quite a few of the videos of the talks given at last July's Bruce Lee conference in Cardiff. I am slowly uploading these to our YouTube Channel  and will be releasing them over the coming days and weeks. Three are published already with more to follow. Watch this space.

3. Other Updates

If you have visited the Martial Arts Studies Research Network Website recently, you may have noticed the quiet appearance of a new page, which is gradually being filled with information about the 2020 Martial Arts Studies conference. 2020 may feel like it is a long way off, but preparations are afoot for a large conference entitled Martial Arts, Religion and Spirituality, which will be co-organised by me, a crack team from Université d'Aix-Marseille, and DS Farrer from the University of Guam. We are all very excited about this, but are finalising details (like the exact date in July 2020, for instance!). However, we are already interested in hearing from people who have strong proposals or embryonic ideas for papers or panels.

The next thing on my own personal Martial Arts Studies agenda is seeing the publication of the next issue of our journal, Martial Arts Studies. This should appear within the next two weeks. It is a fascinating open issue, with a great cross-section of articles and reviews. I will definitely let you all know when it is published.
