Who are The ConDemned?
Who Are The ConDemned?
The Coalition Government of CONservatives and Liberal DEMoctrats has established in the UK a general State of Con-Dem-Nation. Who have they condemned?
1. Everyone who has to suffer cuts to pay for a deficit caused by bailing out banks and allowing the tax avoidance of the super-rich: you are The ConDemned.
2. Anyone facing unemployment: you are one of The ConDemned.
3. Anyone whose office or department is experiencing budget cuts: you are one of The ConDemned.
4. Anyone who can't get help from Social Services, or has to wait a lifetime for social support: you are one of The ConDemned.
5. All future students who may not want to study Business Studies or Science or Chinese for Business or Science for Business: you are one of The ConDemned.
6. All who believed that the Lib-Dems were an alternative to the clapped-out version of old New Labour and the spectre haunting the UK of the Conservatives. We were lied to. They ConDemned us. In fact, all of us in society (we, the ‘demos’) who believed in democracy and believed the words of the Lib-Dems: we are the ‘Conned Demos’.
7. Workers of the state, the civil service, the DSS, even the MOD, council workers, health care professionals, teachers, lecturers, care workers, parents, students, immigrants, the unemployed, artists, children: all of these are part of The ConDemned.
The Scandal of the ConDemNation
· The ConDemned do not deserve to be condemned. The ConDemned are innocent of any crime, any fault. In fact they are the very fabric of society, the heart of the heartless world.
· The ConDemned to not want to be the condemned. The ConDemned are not a political party. We do not want to continue to exist. We do not want to be ‘The ConDemned’. We have no desire to exist as a political movement or political party.
· We have been created by the violent and acts of the ConDemNation. We exist as a group only because we all experience the same kind of unnecessary political violence.
· And we know that it is unnecessary. The deficit can be eradicated by collecting the debt on the unpaid taxes of the super-rich. The debt can be eradicated by a one-off ‘Robin Hood’ tax. The debt can be eradicated by cutting back on the defence budget. AND SO ON, and so on, and so on.
· The poor and the civil servants and the educators and the children and the students and the future do not need to be ConDemned to death or debt.
The Voice of the ConDemned
1. All of the ConDemned need to realise that the student protestors are not an ‘exception’. They are not idiosyncratic loners, out only for themselves. They are you.
2. The students need to realise that students are not the only group facing butchery and violence. The struggle against cuts is a struggle against all cuts to all of the essential organs of a civilised society.
3. All members of the ConDemned Society need to unite with one voice and one aim and one demand: MPs must vote NO to all of the proposed cuts which will hurt only society itself, and YES to all modes of taxation and debt collection which focus on the causes of the problems: the bankers, the super-rich, the professional tax avoiders.
