Everything you know about Taekwondo

I am starting to prepare for a trip to South Korea next week, and have decided to share the raw version of one of the papers I am giving. It is called 'Everything you know about Taekwondo', and it is here:

This paper is more about the question of why so much importance is given to the matter of history in at least some martial arts. You don't have to do taekwondo to read it. In fact, it may be better if you don't! I'll let you know how it goes down in a conference on 'traditional Asian martial arts' in the new Mecca of taekwondo, the Taekwondowon, in Muju.

I'm also giving a paper in Seoul National University about martial arts studies, but I don't have a written version of it. I'll see whether I can record the talk at all.

In the meantime, if you haven't already, remember to check out issue #1 of the journal Martial Arts Studies.

Also, remember that registration is now open for the 2016 Martial Arts Studies conference. A list of some of the confirmed speakers is here, although there are more and more 'big names' registering for the conference all the time - which is very exciting.

Also be aware that the Earlybird Discounts for registration end soon.

As I'm busy until I fly to Seoul and then away for a good few days, I doubt I'll be posting here for a while. Maybe see some of you there? Let me know by email if you are going to the conference in Muju or if you are interested in my talk at Seoul National University (BowmanP@cardiff.ac.uk).
